Ordinary meeting of the Princess of Asturias Foundation Board of Trustees

The Board of Trustees of the Princess of Asturias Foundation held its first meeting of the year today in Oviedo. Both the president, Matías Rodríguez Inciarte, and the director, Teresa Sanjurjo, reported on the administration of the Foundation’s finances and assets and the carrying out and follow-up of the activities undertaken this past year.

At the meeting, besides analysing the status of the candidatures submitted so far for this edition of the Awards granted annually by the institution, the Foundation’s Board of Trustees has approved the incorporation of Grupo Antolín (Spain) and Grupo Inter (Mexico) to the Princess of Asturias Board of Trustees, an honorary body.

Those attending especially recalled the important role played by recently deceased founding member and Trustee Emeritus of the institution Adolfo Barthe Aza in the creation of the Foundation. Matias Rodriguez Inciarte highlighted “his unwavering loyalty and the importance of his lofty goals in furthering the birth of the Foundation in the 80s”. Barthe Aza had also served as acting secretary of the Jury for the Exemplary Town Award on numerous occasions and had been a member of the Jury for the Princess of Asturias Award for Concord on several occasions.
