Princess of Asturias Awards 10/02/2018

Michael J. Sandel, Alma Guillermoprieto, Sylvia A. Earle and Martin Scorsese to give speeches at the 2018 Princes of Asturias Awards Ceremony

Professor of Philosophy at Harvard University Michael J. Sandel, Princess of Asturias Award for Social Sciences; investigative journalist Alma Guillermoprieto, Princess of Asturias Award for Communication and Humanities; oceanographer Sylvia A. Earle, Princess of Asturias Award for Concord, and filmaker Martin Scorsese, Princess of Asturias Award for the Arts, will be the Laureates giving speeches at the 38th edition of the Awards Ceremony.

The President of the Foundation, Luis Fernández-Vega Sanz, and The King of Spain will also speak at the ceremony, which is to be held on 19th October at the Campoamor Theatre in Oviedo.

The ceremony will feature a simultaneous translation service in six languages for the entire theatre. The Foundation will distribute receivers among the public, and attendees will be able to hear speeches by the Laureates in English, French, Italian, Polish and Swedish, in addition to Spanish.

The ceremony will be accessible to persons with hearing impairment by means of its transmission in sign language at the Campoamor Theatre and via the Foundation website. The theatre will also be provided with a hearing induction loop system.
