Prince of Asturias Award for Communication and Humanities 2013

Statement by Annie Leibovitz on being bestowed with the 2013 Prince of Asturias Award for Communication and Humanities:

"I am deeply grateful to the Prince of Asturias Foundation for this extraordinary honor. Asturias prizes in the past have been given to people whose work is very important to me. I am pleased and humbled to be in their company."

Statement by Sebastião Salgado on the conferral of the 2013 Prince of Asturias Award for Communication and Humanities on Annie Leibovitz:

"I am very happy that the Prince of Asturias Award for Communication and Humanities has recognized the work of Annie Leibovitz, a worldwide symbol of photographic portraiture.For me, the Prince of Asturias Award is one of the major international references in the field of culture and I am especially proud that the work of this photographer has been recognised, which I also interpret as recognition of photography itself and of our beautiful profession."
