Prince of Asturias Award for the Arts 2012

Statement by Rafael Moneo on being bestowed with the 2012 Prince of Asturias Award for the Arts:

"Receiving the Prince of Asturias Award for the Arts has been a most pleasant surprise for me, as well as an unexpected gift on my birthday, as I did not know that I had been nominated this year. I am well aware of the meaning and scope of this Award; hence the deep gratitude I feel. To be recognized in one’s own land is the most one can aspire to. Thank you, thank you so much for this recognition."
