Statement by Caddy Adzuba on the conferral of the 2014 Prince of Asturias Award for Concord

“With great joy, I have just heard the surprising news regarding the Prince of Asturias Award for Concord. My gratitude goes out first of all to the Jury, which has had faith in my work, and to my co-workers, friends who accompany me daily in this fight for peace and justice in my country and who fight alongside me against sexual violence. Given its scope and the involvement of different parties in the country, in Africa and at an international scale, the problem of peace in the Democratic Republic of Congo is a problem that currently affects all of humanity. This award and the recognition it entails are proof that our work does not go unnoticed and touches the most sensitive hearts. Thank you very much.”
