SEMANA DE LOS PREMIOS AWARDS WEEK PREMIOS PRINCESA DE ASTURIAS | PRINCESS OF ASTURIAS AWARDS Awards Week congregated some 20,000 people in over thirty cultural activities that commenced with urban interventions aimed at making the work of the Laureates better known to the public at large. Art conquered the street with William Kentridge’s video installation entitled “More Sweetly Play the Dance”, set up in San Francisco Park; the European Union Youth Orchestra gave outdoor concerts in Asturias’ major towns; poetry actions toured Oviedo in taxis and appeared in shop windows; while Gijón was the scene of a treasure hunt inspired by the work of Les Luthiers. The programme included talks and lectures, poetry recitals, meetings with the public, exhibitions and sports coaching sessions, as well as the third edition of the “Taking the Floor” programme for schools. La Semana de los Premios congregó a alrededor de 20.000 personas en torno a una treintena de actividades culturales, que comenzaron con intervenciones urbanas dirigidas a acercar la obra de los premiados a los ciudadanos. El arte conquistó la calle con la videoinstalación “More Sweetly Play the Dance” de Wiliam Kentridge, ubicada en el Campo San Francisco; la European Union Youth Orchestra ofreció conciertos al aire libre en las principales localidades asturianas; acciones poéticas recorrieron Oviedo en taxis y comercios, y Gijón fue escenario de una yincana inspirada en la obra de Les Luthiers. La programación incluyó conferencias, recitales poéticos, encuentros con el público, exposiciones y entrenamientos deportivos, así como la tercera edición del programa para centros educativos “Toma la Palabra”.
