Speech II
I once more have the satisfaction of congratulating those who have received the Awards that bear
my name and which are conferred by the Prince of Asturias Foundation.
The personality of those who have been distinguished in the different cultural, artistic and
scientific activities that come under the scope of the Awards constitutes the finest demonstration of
the wise decisions of the corresponding Juries, towhosemembers I also express my congratulations.
And lastly, I likewise congratulate the Foundation, whose activities do honour to this beloved
region and exalt the values of education and culture.
Allow me to state that it is my belief that culture and education hold the secret that the
relationships among the Spanish people will lead towards progress and peace, which is my heartfelt
wish for both Asturias and Spain.
