The 2021 Princess of Asturias Laureates will begin to arrive in Asturias on Sunday 17th October, prior to the Awards Ceremony, which is to be held at the Campoamor Theatre in Oviedo on Friday 22nd October.

Besides featuring in different cultural events throughout the week, the Laureates will hold several meetings with the press, as detailed below.

In addition to this year’s Laureates, representatives of the Guadalajara International Book Fair (FIL), Princess of Asturias Award for Communication and Humanities, and Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, Princess of Asturias Award for International Cooperation, will also be present at the ceremony. These were unable to attend in 2020 due to the health emergency situation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

ARRIVAL OF THE LAUREATES

SUNDAY 17th OCTOBER

Katalin Karikó and Philip Felgner, joint Princess of Asturias Laureates for Technical and Scientific Research, are scheduled to arrive at 5:40pm.

MONDAY 18th OCTOBER

Gloria Steinem, Princess of Asturias Laureate for Communication and Humanities, is scheduled to arrive around 1:30pm.
Teresa Perales, Princess of Asturias Laureate for Sports, will arrive at the Hotel de la Reconquista around 2:30pm.
Drew Weissman, joint Princess of Asturias Laureate for Technical and Scientific Research, will arrive at the Reconquista Hotel at 1:35pm.
Marina Abramović, Princess of Asturias Laureate for the Arts, will arrive at around 5:40 pm.
Lucy Lake, CEO of CAMFED - Campaign for Female Education, Princess of Asturias Award for International Cooperation, is also scheduled to arrive at 5:40 pm.

TUESDAY 19th OCTOBER

The official reception for José Andrés, Princess of Asturias Laureate for Concord, will be at 10:00am.

WEDNESDAY 20th OCTOBER

Fiona Mavhinga, Executive Advisor at CAMFED - Campaign for Female Education, Princess of Asturias Award for International Cooperation, will arrive at 9:25am.
Derrick Rossi, joint Princess of Asturias Laureate for Technical and Scientific Research, will arrive at the Reconquista Hotel at 9:40am.
Nate Mook, CEO of World Central Kitchen, joint Princess of Asturias Award for Concord, is scheduled to arrive at 5:40pm..
Raúl Padilla, President of the Guadalajara International Book Fair, joint Princess of Asturias Award for Communication and Humanities in 2020, is scheduled to arrive at 5:40pm.

THURSDAY 21st OCTOBER

Sarah Gilbert, joint Princess of Asturias Laureate for Technical and Scientific Research, will arrive at 9:25am.
Seth Berkley, CEO of Gavi, The Vaccine Alliance, Princess of Asturias Award for International Cooperation in 2020, is also scheduled to arrive at 9:25am.
Emmanuel Carrère, Princess of Asturias Laureate for Literature, will arrive some time during the evening.
Uğur Şahin and Özlem Türeci, joint Princess of Asturias Laureates for Technical and Scientific Research, are scheduled to arrive at the Reconquista Hotel some time during the evening.
