Princess of Asturias Awards 10/14/2018

RTVE will be providing the Princess of Asturias Awards Ceremony Official Broadcast

The Laureates’ press conferences will be broadcast on the Internet.

As on previous occasions, Spanish Radio and Television (RTVE) will be responsible for providing the official broadcast of the Princess of Asturias Awards ceremony, which will take place next Friday, 19th October, beginning at 6:30pm in the Campoamor Theatre, Oviedo. Spanish Television (TVE) will also broadcast the audience given by the King and Queen of Spain to the Laureates, which will take place on Friday at 12:30pm in the Covadonga Room of the Reconquista Hotel.

Spanish Radio (RNE) will provide the audio signal to all the radio stations working from the dressing room area in the Campoamor Theatre and TVE will distribute the television signal. All media that are interested in using the official broadcast should get into contact in advance with:

The press areas set up for journalists in the Campoamor Theatre will be in the main boxes 9, 11 and 13. Due to space restrictions, it is advisable to follow the ceremony on the screens installed in the Foundation press office at Hotel Barceló Oviedo Cervantes (Cervantes Street, 13, Oviedo).

AWARDS WEEK EVENTS:

  • “Visit to the Principality of Asturias Regional Parliament”. Githinji Gitahi, Group CEO of Amref Health Africa (Global) and Álvaro Rengifo, president of Amref Health Africa (Spain), will present the NGO’s activities in Africa in a conference. The event will take place on Wednesday 17th October at 12 noon in the Asturias Regional Parliament.
    The Asturian Parliament will make the broadcast of the meeting available to the media through an official broadcast and an audio distributor (XLR).
  • “Meeting of Martin Scorsese with the general public”. Martin Scorsese, Princess of Asturias Award for Arts, will be answering questions asked by those attending the “Scorsese Factory” activities, some thirty events dedicated to the filmmaker. The meeting, chaired by the film director Sergio Sánchez, will take place on Wednesday, October 17th, at 19:30 h in the Jovellanos Theatre, Gijón.
    No television cameras will be allowed during the event.
    Graphic reporters will be able to take pictures without flash during the first five minutes of the event.
    The Foundation will provide the broadcast of the first ten minutes of the meeting for all the media that want it.
    Video distributors (HD-SDI) and audio distributors (XLR) will be available.
    Only one journalist per media outlet will be able to enter the hall.
  • “Meeting with Svante Pääbo”. Svante Pääbo will meet with the general public in an event moderated by Juan Luis Arsuaga, member of the Princess of Asturias Awards for Technical and Scientific Research jury and codirector of the Atapuerca Team (1997 Prince of Asturias Award for Technical and Scientific Research). The meeting will take place on Wednesday 17th October at 7:30pm in the “Paraninfo” Hall in the University of Oviedo Historic Building.
    The University of Oviedo will provide the broadcast of the entire event to any media organization that would like it.
    The broadcast will be available via video distributors (signal in HD-SDI and PAL) and audio (XLR) and can be accessed in the “Aula Clarin” room.
  • “Meeting of Martin Scorsese with young filmmakers”. During this event, Martin Scorsese will be getting together with young Spanish filmmakers and scriptwriters in a meeting chaired by the film director Rodrigo Cortés. The event will be held on Thursday, October 18th, at 17:00 h, in the “Workshop” room at the La Vega Weapons Factory, Oviedo.
    The Foundation will provide the signal made of the first ten minutes of the meeting for all the media that would like it. Only one journalist per media outlet will be able to enter the hall.
  • “Panel discussion on female genital mutilation”. Nice Nailantei Leng’ete, ambassador against genital mutilation in Amref Health Africa (Global) and head of the NGO’s “Alternative Rites of Passage” programme in Kenya, and Githinji Gitahi, Group CEO of Amref Health Africa (Global), will take part in a panel discussion, along with representatives of other organizations involved in the eradication of female genital mutilation. The discussion will be held on Thursday 18th October at 6:30pm in the “Paraninfo” Hall in the University of Oviedo Historic Building.
    The University of Oviedo will provide the broadcast of the entire event to any media organization that would like it.
    The broadcast will be available via video distributors (signal in HD-SDI and PAL) and audio (XLR) and can be accessed in the “Aula Clarin” room.
  • “Talk”. Michael J. Sandel, 2018 Princess of Asturias Award for Social Sciences, will meet with a number of university students at an event moderated by the head of the Philosophy Department at the University of Oviedo. The talk will be held on Saturday 20th October at 1:00pm in the Library of the Historic Building of the University of Oviedo.
    The Foundation will facilitate broadcast signals for the media outlets interested. Video distributors (HD-SDI) and audio distributors (XLR) will be available.  
Special coverage
  • “Breakfast with Svante Pääbo and PhD students”. Svante Pääbo, Princess of Asturias Award for Technical and Scientific Research, will be joining PhD students specialising in his field of work in a meeting chaired by Marco de la Rasilla, co-director of the multidisciplinary research team at the El Sidrón site. The event will take place on Thursday, 18th October at 9:00am in the main hall of the University of Oviedo Historic Building.
    There will only be graphic coverage at this event.
XXVII Princess of Asturias Concert

    Recording will only be allowed inside the hall just before the concert begins.The media interested in having pictures of the performance, which will take place in the Príncipe Felipe Auditorium on Thursday, October 18th, at 19:30 h, will have them available in video through the Princess of Asturias Foundation Virtual Press Office (www.fpa.es ).

    All the press conferences given by the Laureates will be broadcast through the Foundation´s website.

    The graphic material of the events will be available in the Virtual Press Office (VPO) at the website www.fpa.es.
