Princess of Asturias Awards 10/18/2016

RTVE will provide the official signal for the solemn Princess of Asturias Awards ceremony

The media that are interested will have available the television signal made from several cultural events during the Awards Week  

The press conferences with the laureates will be
transmitted via the Internet

Spanish National Television and Radio, as was the case on previous occasions, will be responsible for the official signal for the solemn Princess of Asturias Awards ceremony, which will take place this Friday, October 21st, from 18:30h, in the Campoamor Theatre, Oviedo.TVE will also provide the TV signal for the audience that TM the King and Queen will hold with the laureates on Friday at 12:30h in the Covadonga Room at the Reconquista Hotel.

RNE will provide the sound signal for all radio stations in the Campoamor Theatre dressing rooms and TVE will distribute the television signal. The media interested in using the official signal are to get in touch in advance with:

The press areas prepared for the editors in the Campoamor Theatre will be Boxes 9, 11 and 13 on the Main floor. Due to space restrictions, it is advisable to follow the ceremony on the screens installed in the Foundation press office in the Barceló Hotel (C/ Cervantes, 13. Oviedo).

AWARDS WEEK EVENTS:

Signal made:
The media who are interested will have available the signal made to cover the following events:

  • “Mary Beard: The classical culture of a historian and feminist”. The Princess of Asturias Award for Social Sciences laureate, Mary Beard, visiting the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters at Oviedo University. Lecturers and students from various humanistic disciplines, as well as several research groups from the Humanities Campus, researching into subjects of gender and diversity will ask the laureate their questions. The meeting will be chaired by Rosa Cid, Director of the Deméter Research Group at Oviedo University and lecturer in Ancient History. The event will take place on Wednesday, October 19th, at 12:00h.
    The signal made will be provided for the media who wish to receive it.

  • “A love for words”. Richard Ford, Princess of Asturias Award for Literature, will take part in a meeting at the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters at Oviedo University with students and lecturers, in which the laureate will answer questions posed by those taking part. The event will be chaired by the lecturer in English Language and Literature at Oviedo University, Esther Álvarez, with the collaboration of Rubén Peinado Abarrio, Doctor in English Language and Literature and a specialist in the work of Richard Ford and Javier García Rodríguez, lecturer in Literary Theory and Comparative Literature at Oviedo University. The event will take place on Thursday, October 20th, from 12:00h onwards.
    The signal made will be provided for the media who wish to receive it.

  • “Mary Beard: Lessons from the past”. The Princess of Asturias Award for Social Sciences laureate will visit the Asturian Parliament to take part with the members of the Regional Government in a round table on current affairs and their similarities with the classical world. The event will take place on Thursday, October 20th, at 12:30h.
    Television cameras will only be allowed in at the beginning. The signal made of the rest of the event will be provided.

  •  Siddhartha Kaul, world President of SOS Children´s Villages, the Princess of Asturias Award for Concord NGO, will have a leading role in a debate together with Pedro Puig, President of the organization in Spain; María José González, SOS mother; and Raquel López, a beneficiary of SOS Children´s Villages. In the debate, the development and work of the NGO in the world will be reviewed. The event, which will take place on Thursday, October 20th, at 19:00h, will be chaired by Isabel Hevia Artime, Doctor in Pedagogy and lecturer in the Educational Sciences Department at Oviedo University.
    The signal made will be provided for the media who wish to receive it.

The media will have at their disposal an image distributor (BNC video outputs) and audio (XLR-Canon outputs and Minijack).

Special coverage:

The working breakfast with HughHerr, Princess of Asturias Award for Technical and Scientific Research, which will take place on Thursday, October 20th, at 09:30h at the Principality of Asturias Royal Academy of Medicine in Oviedo, will only have media coverage.

Access for the media to all the activities in the Awards Week will be free. They will have audio outlets (XLR-Canon outputs and Minijack) and a reserved area for photographers and television camera operators.

XXV Princess of Asturias Awards Concert:

It will only be possible to record inside the hall just before the concert begins. The media interested in having images of the performance, which will take place in the Prince Felipe Auditorium, Oviedo on Thursday, October 20th at 19:30h will have available a video and audio distributor (BNC video output and XLR-Canon and Minijack) in the office located in Barceló Hotel Oviedo Cervantes..

All the press conferences given by the laureates will be broadcast on the Foundation´s web site.
