Premios Princesa de Asturias 11/04/2013

José Luis Pinillos, Prince of Asturias Award for Social Sciences, has died

He was granted the award in 1986 for his “contribution to the promotion and advancement of empirical psychology in Spain”.

José Luis Pinillos, 1986 Prince of Asturias Award for Social Sciences, has died.

The Jury decided unanimously to confer the 1986 Prince of Asturias Award for Social Sciences on José Luis Pinillos. As stated in the Minutes of the Jury, “His work is not only of great scientific originality and relevance, but has also allowed the large school of psychologists to exist in Spain. The Jury also pays homage to his human qualities and fruitful teaching.”

The Jury was chaired by Antonio Hernández Gil and made up of Óscar Alzaga, Ignacio Bayón, Claudio Boada, Miguel Boyer, Ángel Fernández Noriega, Fernando García de Cortázar, Salvador Giner, Landelino Lavilla, Aurelio Menéndez, Rafael Pérez Escolar, Alejandro Rebollo, Joaquín Ruiz-Giménez, Jordi Solé Tura, Rodrigo Uría and Alvaro Cuervo acting as secretary.

The Awards Ceremony, which took place on 22nd November, was presided over by HRH The Prince of Asturias. The speeches at the ceremony were given by Juan Antonio Samaranch, Mario Vargas Llosa, the then president of the Foundation, Pedro Masaveu, and HRH The Prince of Asturias, Felipe de Borbón.
