The Princess of Asturias Foundation and the ONCE Foundation have signed an agreement today Friday with the aim of carrying out joint actions to promote universal accessibility and facilitate the access of people with disabilities to activities undertaken by the Princess of Asturias Foundation, especially those relating to the granting and presentation of its annual awards.

The agreement was signed by the director of the Princess of Asturias Foundation, Teresa Sanjurjo, and the president of ONCE and its Foundation, Miguel Carballeda, in a meeting that was also attended by the director of Universal Accessibility at the ONCE Foundation, Jesús Hernández.

The agreement provides for consulting services on the part of the ONCE Foundation in matters of Universal Accessibility and Design for All in the belief that any kind of educational or cultural event must be open to all without limitation.

The ONCE Foundation will provide advice regarding the establishment of security and emergency evacuation measures for people with disabilities at the Princess of Asturias Foundation Awards Ceremony. This confirms the latter’s commitment to pursuing the necessary actions for the communication of its activities and the related information to be universally accessible in terms of signposting in buildings, documentation, graphic media and the carrying out of different events.

Finally, via the signing of this agreement, both entities will promote the creation of accessible children’s publications, developed by children with disabilities, which will be freely and openly available so as to provide a higher profile to the importance of accessibility for all.
