Ordinary meeting of the Princess of Asturias Foundation Board of Trustees

Held today at the Reconquista Hotel in Oviedo.

The Princess of Asturias Foundation Board of Trustees held its ordinary meeting corresponding to the second half of the year at the Reconquista Hotel in Oviedo today, where it was informed of the activities undertaken this year and of the Foundation’s financial situation and assets.

The Foundation’s president, Matías Rodríguez Inciarte, and director, Teresa Sanjurjo, reported on the activities undertaken by the Foundation throughout the year, focussing especially on the Prince of Asturias Awards Ceremony and the events featuring the Laureates, the activities related to the institution’s Music Department and the impact all these events have had in the media.

The Board of Trustees unanimously approved the action plan and budget for 2015, amounting to 5.3 million euros, a figure that continues the line of restraint in spending of prior years while maintaining the Foundation’s customary activities. This budget also strengthens the trend towards budgetary independence, with 85% of its income coming from private sources and 15% of funding coming from the public sector. The Board was also informed that the Foundation is projected to close the financial year in the black thanks to the support of the Foundation’s trustees and patrons, as was highlighted in the session.

The meeting also agreed to appoint lifetime emeritus director of the Foundation Graciano García as an emeritus trustee, as he had to step down as trustee of the institution on reaching the statutory age limit of 75 years. His work as promoter and director of the Foundation for thirty years was highlighted, in addition to his dedication and commitment to the organization’s goals.
