Leading figures in the organization will visit an exhibition of projects by 3rd- and 4th-year secondary school and pre-university students who have participated in the section devoted to CAMFED - Campaign for Female Education within the “Taking the Floor” educational programme for schools. They will later hold a meeting with the students, chaired by Emma Álvarez, head of the La Ería state secondary school and a teacher for Spain’s Institute for Peace and Cooperation Development NGO. A representation of pupils will attend the event in person while the rest of the participating schools will connect via video call. The students’ work was based on the NGO’s Learner Guide Program project, which enables thousands of young African women who once received help from the organization to return to their communities to serve as a guide for other female students. Based on this idea, the Asturian students adapted this process to their environment: they were asked to discover the needs and concerns of their 1st-year secondary school classmates and to draw up an action plan.
