“The Sen Perspective” film cycle. Screening of Hava, Maryam, Ayesha

On the basis of this film, which will be premiered in Asturias during this activity, the audience will be invited to reflect on the individual and the collective, both key concepts in Amartya Sen's thinking. The three leading female characters in this film are facing a crucial moment in their lives, but the personal decisions they must make are strongly conditioned by the social environment that oppresses them. Its director, Sahraa Karimi, has recently had to flee Afghanistan after the return of the Taliban to power. The film, from 2019 and in colour, will be screened in its original language with Spanish subtitles and is pending age-rating classification. At the time of its screening, the film will still not have been released on the commercial circuit.
