57 Fundación Princesa de Asturias MEMORIA 2018 PREMIO AL PUEBLO EJEMPLAR DE ASTURIAS www.fpa.es Mual, localidad distinguida con el Premio al Pueblo Ejemplar de Asturias 2018, recibió la vista de SS. MM. los Reyes al día siguiente de la ceremonia de entrega de los Premios. Este galardón es un reconocimiento “al pueblo, aldea, núcleo de población, espacio paisajístico o grupo humano del Principado de Asturias que haya destacado de modo notable en la defensa y conservación de su entorno natural, ambiental, de su patrimonio histórico, cultural o artístico, en iniciativas de impulso económico y social o en la realización de obras comunales u otras manifestaciones de solidaridad sobresalientes”. Tras el recibimiento oficial, SS. MM. los Reyes realizaron la primera parada para visitar un molino hidráulico y seguidamente saludaron a representantes del tejido empresarial del concejo, así como a los miembros de la Asociación Cultural de Mual. En su recorrido, don Felipe y doña Letizia presenciaron algunas de las tradiciones y técnicas de manufactura de la zona, como el desenvainado de fabes o el enramado de cebollas, y asistieron a una demostración de bolo vaqueiro. Felipe VI aceptó el reto de los vecinos y realizó un gran lanzamiento. En el mismo emplazamiento, los Reyes visitaron un expositor de la carrera de montaña “Puerta de Muniellos”. Prosiguieron el recorrido para acceder a una típica casa asturiana, donde se les mostró la técnica de amasado en un antiguo horno de pan. Posteriormente visitaron los stands de la Asociación de Mujeres y contemplaron los trabajos realizados a lo largo del año. Seguidamente, Sus Majestades se dirigieron a la plaza donde se celebró el acto institucional. Tras el descubrimiento de la placa conmemorativa, don Felipe hizo entrega del galardón a José Lago Collar, presidente de la Asociación Cultural de Mual. Las palabras de agradecimiento del alcalde fueron seguidas por un discurso de S. M que destacó el papel de las mujeres en la sociedad rural. El acto concluyó con el Himno de Asturias, a cargo de la banda de gaitas Mual, distinguished with the 2018 Exemplary Town of Asturias Award, received the visit by TM The King and Queen the day after the Princess of Asturias Awards Ceremony. This Award constitutes a recognition of the “town, village, population centre, scenic area or group of people in the Principality of Asturias that has stood out in a notable way in defending and conserving its natural or environmental setting, its historical, cultural or artistic heritage, or in the carrying out of outstanding communal works or other such displays of solidarity”. After the official reception, TM The King and Queen made the first stop on their tour of the village at a water mill and then greeted representatives of the borough’s business world, as well as members of Mual Cultural Association. During the course of their tour, King Felipe and Queen Letizia also witnessed some of the area’s traditions and crafts, such as the shelling of beans and the stringing of onions, and attended a demonstration of Vaqueiro skittles. Felipe VI accepted the challenge of the locals and made a great throw. At the same site, The King and Queen visited an exhibit on the “Puerta de Muniellos” mountain race. They continued the tour entering a typical Asturian house, where they were shown the technique of kneading bread in an old domestic bakery. They then visited the stands of the Women’s Association and viewed the work produced throughout the year. Their Majesties then headed to the square where the official ceremony was held. After unveiling a commemorative plaque, King Felipe presented the Award to José Lago Collar, President of Mual Cultural Association. The words of appreciation pronounced by the mayor were followed by an address by His Majesty that highlighted the role of women in rural society. The ceremony concluded with the playing of the Asturian Anthem by the Cangas del Narcea pipe band.
