MUSIC DEPARTMENT Coros Choirs Concierto de los Premios y participación en los actos culturales El Concierto de los Premios Princesa de Asturias, presidido por SS.MM. los Reyes, tuvo lugar, como es habitual, la tarde previa a la ceremonia de entrega de los galardones. En esta edición el Coro, la Orquesta Sinfónica del Principado de Asturias (OSPA) y el barítono Carlos Álvarez fueron dirigidos por el maestro Cristóbal Soler. Con el título “Ópera y zarzuela”, pudieron escucharse fragmentos de La forza del destino de Giuseppe Verdi, Andrea Chénier de Umberto Giordano, Doña Francisquita de Amadeo Vives o el estreno en Asturias de Carta de Dulcinea a don Quijote de Miquel Ortega. Además, dentro de las actividades de la Semana de los Premios, el Coro de adultos y el Joven Coro participaron en “Música para la concordia”, un concierto-paseo homenaje a la ciudad de Gdansk, Premio Princesa de Asturias de la Concordia, acompañados por la Orquesta de la Universidad de Oviedo y que se celebró en una de las naves de la antigua Fábrica de Armas de La Vega, en Oviedo. Clausura del XVI Congreso de la Asociación de Academias de la Lengua Española En el mes de noviembre el coro viajó a la ciudad de Sevilla para participar en la clausura del XVI Congreso de la Asociación de Academias de la Lengua Española (ASALE), presidido por SS.MM. los Reyes. El acto tuvo lugar en el Teatro Cartuja Center Cite de la ciudad hispalense. Asimismo, el Coro, acompañado por el organista Abraham Fernández Martínez, ofreció un concierto en la iglesia de la Anunciación con un programa religioso que incluía obras de Pau Casals, Maurice Duruflé y Krzysztof Penderecki, entre otros. Closure of the 16th Congress of the Association of Academies of the Spanish Language In November, the Choir travelled to Seville to participate in the closure of the 16th Congress of the Association of Academies of the Spanish Language (ASALE), chaired by TM The King and Queen. The event was held in the city’s Cartuja Center Cite. In addition, the Choir, accompanied by organist Abraham Fernández Martínez, gave a concert in the Church of the Annunciation with a programme of sacred music that included works by Pau Casals, Maurice Duruflé and Krzysztof Penderecki, among others.
