Williams and Morricone show an absolute mastery of both composition and narrative, combining emotion, tension and lyricism at the service of cinematographic images.” Premio Princesa de Asturias de las Artes Princess of Asturias Award for the Arts Ennio Morricone (Roma, Italia, 10 de noviembre de 1928 – 6 de julio de 2020) se formó en todas las especialidades de la composición musical y en 1961 realizó su debut cinematográfico con la música de la película El federal . Posteriormente, adquirió fama internacional con la música de wésterns de Sergio Leone, como Por un puñado de dólares y El bueno, el feo y el malo , entre otros. Es uno de los compositores cinematográficos más prolíficos del mundo con más de cuatrocientas composiciones para el cine y la televisión, entre las que destacan las de películas como La misión , Cinema Paradiso y Frenético , entre otras. Ha compuesto música de cámara, piezas sinfónicas, óperas y cientos de canciones para artistas de música ligera y pop. En 2018, con motivo de su 90.º cumpleaños, Morricone inició la gira «The Final Concerts World Tour» para despedirse definitivamente de los escenarios. Caballero de la Legión de Honor de Francia y comendador, gran oficial y caballero de gran cruz de la Orden al Mérito de la República Italiana, ha recibido veintisiete discos de oro y siete de platino, varios BAFTA, Globos de Oro, Grammy, David de Donatello, el León de Oro a toda una carrera y el Polar de la Música. En 2007 se le concedió el Óscar honorífico a toda su carrera y en 2016 el Óscar y su tercer Globo de Oro por la Ennio Morricone (Rome, Italy, 10th November 1928 – 6th July 2020) was trained in all specialties of musical composition and in 1961 made his film debut with the music for Luciano Salce’s film, The Fascist . He subsequently gained international fame with the scores for Sergio Leone’s “spaghetti western” genre films, such as A Fistful of Dollars and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly . He is one of the most prolific film composers in the world, with more than four hundred compositions for film and television, outstanding among which are those of such films as The Mission , Cinema Paradiso and Frantic . He has composed chamber music, symphonic pieces, operas and hundreds of songs for light and pop music artists. In 2018, on the occasion of his 90th birthday, Morricone started “The Final Concerts World Tour” with which he bade farewell to the stage. Chevalier of the French Legion of Honour and Commander, Grand Officer and Knight of the Grand Cross of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic, he has received twenty-seven gold records and seven platinum records, various BAFTAs, Golden Globes, Grammies, David de Donatellos, the Golden Lion Award for Lifetime Achievement and the Polar Music Prize.
