Carrère draws an incisive portrait of contemporary society and has exerted a notable influence on the literature of our time, in addition to showing a strong commitment to writing as a vocation inseparable from life itself.” Emmanuel Carrère (París, Francia, 9 de diciembre de 1957), escritor, guionista y realizador, publicó en 1983 su primera novela, L’amie du jaguar . A partir de su obra L’Adversaire abandonó la ficción y comenzó a escribir textos en los que narra su propia experiencia o las vidas reales de otras personas y de personajes históricos. Este tipo de texto, en el que se entrecruzan hechos y personajes de la vida real con reflexiones sobre el acto de escribir y la experiencia del propio autor, es también el que aparece en sus siguientes obras: Un roman russe o D’autres vies que la mienne , Limónov , Le Royaume , Je suis vivant et vous êtes morts: Philip K. Dick, 1928-1982 , Il est avantageux d’avoir où aller y Yoga . Carrère tiene también una destacada actividad cinematográfica y televisiva, ya sea como guionista, adaptador de novelas, realizador o escenógrafo. Ha realizado también documentales y reportajes y algunas de sus novelas han sido adaptadas al cine. Premio Kléber Haedens, Grand Prix de la Science- Fiction, Premio Femina, Premio Villa Kujoyama de Kioto y Premio Renaudot. La Feria Internacional del Libro de Guadalajara (México) le otorgó el Premio FIL de Literatura en Lenguas Romances. Emmanuel Carrère (Paris, France, 9th December 1957), writer, screenwriter and filmmaker, published his first novel, L’amie du jaguar , in 1983. Starting with the work L’Adversaire , Carrère gave up writing fiction and began to write texts in which he narrates his own experiences or the real lives of other people and historical figures. This type of text, in which facts and characters from real life intersect with reflections on the act of writing and the author’s own experience, also appears in his subsequent books: My Life as a Russian Novel , Lives Other Than My Own , Limónov , Le Royaume , I am Alive and You are Dead: A Journey into the Mind of Philip K. Dick , Il est avantageux d’avoir où aller and Yoga . Carrère likewise boasts an outstanding career in film and television, as a scriptwriter, adapter of novels, producer and theatrical designer. He has also made documentaries and news reports and some of his novels have been adapted for the screen. Carrère holds the Prix Kléber Haedens, the Grand Prix de la Science-Fiction Française, the Prix Femina, the Villa Kujoyama Award in Kyoto and the Prix Renaudot, as well as the FIL Award for Literature in Romance Languages from the Guadalajara International Book Fair (Mexico).
