Su labor, basada en una red de solidaridad y ayuda intergeneracional, ha impulsado un cambio sistémico que se sustenta en los pilares de equidad y justicia social y apuesta por el liderazgo de las mujeres». “The international non-governmental organization CAMFED has contributed to social transformation aimed at remedying the exclusion and facilitating the access of millions of girls to education, as well as the empowerment of young women in sub-Saharan Africa. Based on a network of solidarity and intergenerational help, its work has promoted a systemic change built on the pillars of equity and social justice which is committed to the leadership of the women.” Fundada en 1993, CAMFED - Campaign for Female Education , es un movimiento panafricano que invierte en la educación de las niñas y está liderado por una hermandad de mujeres jóvenes. Ya ha apoyado la escolarización de más de 4,8 millones de estudiantes y millones más se han beneficiado de un entorno educativo mejorado en más de 6700 escuelas asociadas. La principal característica de CAMFED es el apoyo a las mujeres en la transición hacia la vida adulta y el estímulo de nuevas oportunidades empresariales. Gracias a su red de más de 178000 líderes formados con el apoyo de CAMFED, el número de beneficiarias sigue creciendo, dado que cada una asesora y da apoyo económico a un promedio de tres niñas para que puedan seguir estudiando. Ha declarado su compromiso hasta 2025 de proveer educación primaria y secundaria a otros cinco millones de niñas, habilitar vías hacia la formación profesional y empleo para 280000 mujeres y apoyar a las emprendedoras en la creación de 150000 puestos de trabajo. Galardonada con el Yidan Prize for Education Development y the Nicholas Kristof Holiday Impact Prize, entre otros, las Naciones Unidas le otorgó el Premio de Acción Climática Global. Founded in 1993, CAMFED - Campaign for Female Education is a pan-African movement that invests in girls’ education. Led by a sisterhood of young women, it has supported over 4.8 million students, while millions more have benefited from an improved educational environment across more than 6700 partner schools. CAMFED’s main characteristic is that it supports women in the transition to adult life and fosters new business opportunities for job creation and income growth in rural areas. Thanks to its network of over 178000 leaders educated with CAMFED support, the number of beneficiaries continues to grow, as each past recipient of a scholarship mentors and financially supports an average of three more girls to stay in school. CAMFED has recently declared its commitment to provide primary and secondary education to another 5 million girls, enable a safe path to vocational training and employment for 280000 women, and support female entrepreneurs in the creation of another 150000 jobs by the years 2021-2025. Awarded the Yidan Prize for Education Development and the Nicholas Kristof Holiday Impact Prize, among others, CAMFED has also been distinguished with the United Nations Global Climate Action Award.
