GALARDONADOS Derrick Rossi (Toronto, Canadá, 5 de febrero de 1966) se licenció en Genética Médica y Molecular en la Universidad de Toronto y se doctoró en la de Helsinki. Se formó como becario en Stanford y ocupó diferentes puestos en la Facultad de Medicina de Harvard y el Instituto de Células Madre de esta Universidad. Ha sido investigador del Instituto de Enfermedades Inmunitarias y del Programa de Medicina Celular y Molecular del Hospital Infantil de Boston. En 2010, fundó Moderna; en 2015, Intellia Therapeutics, y en 2016, cofundó Magenta Therapeutics. Ha recibido, entre otros, el Pathways to Independence de los NIH y el Robertson Investigator de la New York Stem Cell Foundation. Derrick Rossi (Toronto, Canada, 5th February 1966) graduated from the University of Toronto in Medical and Molecular Genetics and earned his PhD from the University of Helsinki. He continued his studies at Stanford University and held different positions at Harvard Medical School and the Harvard Stem Cell Institute. He has carried out research at the Institute for Immune Diseases and in the Program in Cellular and Molecular Medicine at Boston Children’s Hospital. Rossi founded Moderna in 2010 and co- founded Intellia Therapeutics in 2015 and Magenta Therapeutics in 2016. Among other distinctions, he has received the Pathways to Independence Award from the NIH and was named a Robertson Investigator by the New York Stem Cell Foundation. Sarah Gilbert (Kettering, United Kingdom, 1962) graduated in Biological Sciences from the University of East Anglia (England) and earned her PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Hull (England). She subsequently worked as a postdoctoral researcher in industry before moving to the University of Oxford in 1994. She specializes in the development of vaccines against influenza and emerging pathogens. She led the group that worked on the development of the Oxford/AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine. She has been awarded the Albert Medal of the Royal Society of Arts (UK). Sarah Gilbert (Kettering, Reino Unido, 1962) se graduó en Biología por la Universidad de Anglia Oriental (Inglaterra) y se doctoró en Bioquímica en la Universidad de Hull (Inglaterra). Trabajó como investigadora posdoctoral en el sector industrial y en 1994 se trasladó a Oxford. Está especializada en el desarrollo de vacunas contra la gripe y patógenos emergentes. Dirigió el grupo que ha trabajado en la vacuna contra la COVID-19 de Oxford/AstraZeneca.
