Posteriormente, saludaron a un grupo de niños, que hicieron entrega a Sus Altezas Reales de varios dibujos. A continuación, la Familia Real se encaminó a la zona que inicia la ruta El Cornón para el descubrimiento de la placa conmemorativa del Premio al Pueblo Ejemplar de Asturias. Acto seguido, la comitiva emprendió un recorrido por las calles de Santa María del Puerto y se detuvo para admirar unas manufacturas artesanales propias del concejo. De nuevo en el recorrido, prosiguieron hasta la fuente y el abrevadero de piedra para el ganado, donde disfrutaron de la interpretación de una canción vaqueira. Desde allí se dirigieron a la iglesia de Santa María, que data del siglo xiv y fue reconstruida en 2011 por los vecinos. Tras acceder al templo, Sus Majestades los Reyes de España y Sus Altezas Reales se encaminaron a la zona conocida como la Calechina para visitar el nuevo mirador —bautizado con el nombre de Infanta Sofía en honor a Su Alteza Real— y mantuvieron un encuentro con un grupo de vaqueiros. Seguidamente se celebró el acto institucional de entrega del galardón, que concluyó entre aplausos y con la interpretación del himno de Asturias por parte de las bandas de gaitas de Candás y Castrillón. outside of which they viewed an exhibition on pastoral farming and transhumance —the seasonal movement of livestock between fixed summer and winter pastures— practised in this area of Somiedo. Following this, the Royal Family headed to the starting point of the El Cornón Trail to unveil the plaque commemorating the Exemplary Town of Asturias Award. Immediately afterwards, the entourage toured the streets of Santa María del Puerto, stopping to admire some of the typical handicrafts of the borough. They then resumed the tour and continued on to the fountain and stone trough for cattle, where they enjoyed the performance of a vaqueira song. From there, they went on to the Church of Santa María, which dates from the 14th century and was rebuilt in 2011 by the local residents. After visiting the church, Their Majesties The King and Queen and Their Royal Highnesses headed to the area known as Calechina to visit the new scenic viewpoint —named in honour of Her Royal Highness Infanta Sofía— and met with a group of vaqueiros (nomadic herders).
