GALARDONADOS Fragmento del acta del jurado Excerpt from the Minutes of the Jury Trayectoria Background «Por la oportunidad que brindan a los deportistas en zonas de conflicto y lugares donde los derechos humanos se ven vulnerados de desarrollar su actividad deportiva y personal». “For the opportunity they afford athletes in conflict zones and places where human rights are violated, preventing them from being able to perform their sporting and personal activities.” La Fundación Olímpica de Refugiados y el Equipo Olímpico de Refugiados, creados por el Comité Olímpico Internacional y el Alto Comisionado de las Naciones Unidas para los Refugiados (ACNUR) en 2017 y 2015, respectivamente, tienen como objetivo ser «un símbolo de esperanza para todos los refugiados del mundo». La Fundación Olímpica de Refugiados se creó con el compromiso de apoyar la protección y el desarrollo deportivo y personal de atletas desplazados, más allá de las citas olímpicas. Ha puesto en marcha doce programas desde su creación, de los que se han beneficiado alrededor de doscientos mil jóvenes en ocho países. La Fundación promueve la creación de redes y acuerdos de colaboración que ayuden a implementar su visión, como la Sport Refugees Coalition o el Olympic Refuge Foundation Think Tank, y es responsable también del Equipo Olímpico de Refugiados. El Equipo Olímpico de Refugiados es una delegación que participa en los Juegos Olímpicos, y que está formada por atletas que se encuentran en calidad de refugiados por causa de cualquier conflicto a nivel mundial. El equipo tiene la misma consideración que cualquier otro de los que participan en la cita deportiva y compitió por primera vez en los Juegos Olímpicos de Río de Janeiro 2016. The Olympic Refuge Foundation and the IOC Refugee Olympic Team, created in 2017 and 2015, respectively, by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), aim to serve as “a symbol of hope for all the world’s refugees”. The Olympic Refuge Foundation was created with the commitment to support the protection and sporting and personal development of displaced athletes, over and above Olympic events. Since its creation, it has launched twelve programmes, from which some two hundred thousand young people have already benefited. The Foundation also promotes the creation of networks and collaboration agreements that help implement its vision, such as the Sport for Refugees Coalition and the Olympic Refuge Foundation Think Tank, and is also responsible for the Refugee Olympic Team. The IOC Refugee Olympic Team is a delegation that participates in the Olympic Games made up of athletes who are refugees by reason of any conflict worldwide. The team has the same consideration as any other that participates in the sporting event. The EOR (its official acronym, from French) participated for the first time in the Rio de Janeiro 2016 Olympic Games.
