GALARDONADOS Trayectoria Background Yann LeCun (Soisy-sous-Montmorency, Francia, 1960) se graduó en Ingeniería Eléctrica en la Escuela Superior de Ingenieros en Electrotécnica y Electrónica de París y se doctoró en Ciencias de la Computación por la Universidad Pierre et Marie Curie en 1987. Después de un postdoctorado en la Universidad de Toronto, en el grupo de Geoffrey Hinton, se unió a AT&T Bell Laboratories, donde se convirtió en jefe del Departamento de Investigación de Procesamiento de Imágenes. En 2003 fue contratado como profesor en la Universidad de Nueva York, después de un breve periodo como miembro del NEC Research Institute en Princeton (Nueva Jersey). Es director de investigación de inteligencia artificial en Facebook y mantiene su actividad académica en la Universidad de Nueva York, vinculado al Center for Data Science (que fundó y dirigió entre 2012 y 2014) y al Courant Institute of Mathematical Science. Es autor o coautor de más de trescientas publicaciones. Miembro del comité asesor del Instituto de Matemáticas Puras y Aplicadas y del Instituto de Investigación Computacional y Experimental en Matemáticas, es miembro de la Academia Nacional de Ingeniería de EE. UU. y ha recibido, entre otros, el IEEE Neural Network Pioneer Award, el de Investigador Distinguido IEEE PAMI y el Pender de la Universidad de Pensilvania, además del Premio Turing. Cuenta con doctorados honoris causa del Instituto Politécnico Nacional de México y de la Escuela Politécnica Federal de Lausana. Yoshua Bengio (París, Francia,1964) se graduó en Ingeniería Informática en la Universidad McGill (Canadá), donde también cursó un máster y se doctoró en Ciencias de la Computación. Hizo estudios postdoctorales en el Instituto de Tecnología de Massachusetts y en los AT&T Bell Laboratories, junto al grupo de LeCun. Desde 1993 es profesor en el Departamento de Ciencias de la Computación e Investigación Operativa de la Universidad de Montreal. Además de ocupar la cátedra de Investigación de Canadá en Algoritmos de Aprendizaje Estadístico, es fundador y director científico de Mila, el Instituto de Inteligencia Artificial de Quebec, cofundador de la empresa emergente Element AI y asesor de varias empresas de tecnología. After a brief tenure as a Fellow of the NEC Research Institute in Princeton, New Jersey, he joined New York University in 2003. He is director of AI Research at Facebook and maintains his academic activity at New York University, linked to the Center for Data Science (which he founded and headed from 2012 to 2014) and the Courant Institute of Mathematical Science. He is the author or co-author of more than three hundred publications. Member of the Advisory Board of the Institute of Pure and Applied Mathematics and of the Institute for Computational and Experimental Research in Mathematics, he is a member of the US National Academy of Engineering and is the recipient of numerous awards, including the IEEE Neural Network Pioneer Award, the IEEE PAMI Distinguished Researcher Award and the University of Pennsylvania Harold Pender Award, in addition to the Turing Award. He holds honorary degrees from the National Polytechnic Institute of Mexico and the Federal Polytechnic School of Lausanne. Yoshua Bengio (Paris, France, 1964) received his Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from McGill University (Canada), where he also earned his Master’s degree and PhD in Computer Science. He completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and with LeCun’s group at AT&T Bell Laboratories. He has been a professor in the Department of Computer Science and Operations Research at the University of Montreal since 1993. In addition to holding the Canada Research Chair in Statistical Learning Algorithms, he is the founder and scientific director of Mila, the Quebec Artificial Intelligence Institute, co-founder of the Element AI startup and advisor to several tech companies.
