MUSIC DEPARTMENT Choirs for Peace Members of the Foundation Choir participated in the “Choirs for Peace” initiative, which brought together different groups from all over Europe to simultaneously sing for a ceasefire in Ukraine and in all war-torn regions. The meetings of choirs took place on 27th March in a hundred European cities, where the participants interpreted the Dona Nobis Pacem canon. In June, the Choir took part in the Made in Asturias concert, forming part of the official season of the Principality of Asturias Symphony Orchestra (OSPA), conducted by Daniel Sánchez at the Príncipe Felipe Auditorium. The programme included the premiere of the orchestral and choral version of Señaldades , by Asturian composer Manuel Fernández Avello. Extraordinary Easter concerts Conducted by Maestro Óliver Díaz, the Choir and the Principality of Asturias Symphony Orchestra (OSPA) gave two extraordinary Easter concerts at the Jovellanos Theatre in Gijón and the Príncipe Felipe Auditorium, respectively. Accompanied by soloists Zvetelina Vassileva (soprano), Cristina del Barrio (mezzo- soprano), José Pazos (tenor) and Christopher Robertson (baritone), they performed Beethoven’s Mass in C major . Víctor Manuel 75th Anniversary Tour The Choir and the Principality of Asturias Symphony Orchestra (OSPA), conducted by Joan Albert Amargós, accompanied Víctor Manuel in four symphony concerts that formed part of the tour that opened in 2022 to mark the Asturian Musician’s 75th birthday. The concerts commenced in September at the Laboral Theatre, Gijón, and ended in December at the WiZink Center, Madrid, with a performance that brought together more than eight thousand people. Messiah On 16th December, the Choir performed Handel’s Messiah at the Prince Felipe Auditorium, Oviedo, alongside the Principality of Asturias Symphony Orchestra (OSPA). The concert was conducted by Maestro Miguel Romea and included the participation of soprano Alicia Amo, mezzo-soprano Lucía Caihuela, tenor Manuel Gómez Ruiz and baritone Ferran Albrich. Coros Choirs Coros por la Paz Integrantes del Coro de la Fundación participaron en la iniciativa «Coros por la Paz», que reunió a distintas agrupaciones de toda Europa para cantar simultáneamente por el alto el fuego en Ucrania y en todas las regiones asoladas por la guerra. Los encuentros corales tuvieron lugar el 27 de marzo en un centenar de ciudades europeas, donde los participantes interpretaron el canon Dona Nobis Pacem . En el mes de junio, el Coro intervino en el concierto Hecho en Asturias , de la temporada de abono de la Orquesta Sinfónica del Principado de Asturias (OSPA), bajo la dirección de Daniel Sánchez, en el Auditorio Príncipe Felipe. El programa incluyó el estreno de la versión orquestal y coral de Señaldades , del compositor asturiano Manuel Fernández Avello. Conciertos extraordinarios de Semana Santa Bajo la dirección del maestro Óliver Díaz, el Coro y la Orquesta Sinfónica del Principado de Asturias ofrecieron dos conciertos extraordinarios de Semana Santa en el Teatro Jovellanos de Gijón y en el Auditorio Príncipe Felipe.
