GALARDONADOS Svetlana Mojsov (Skopie, Macedonia del Norte, 1947) estudió Química Física en Belgrado y se graduó en la Universidad Rockefeller estadounidense, donde trabajó con el premio Nobel de Química Robert Merrifield y se especializó en la síntesis de péptidos. Más tarde, se trasladó al Hospital General de Massachusetts, donde identificó el péptido GLP-1, lo sintetizó y estudió su función, además de desarrollar anticuerpos contra algunas de sus secuencias. En los años noventa regresó a la Universidad Rockefeller. Pese a su destacada labor, su nombre no fue reconocido hasta que reclamó que se corrigieran artículos aparecidos en The New York Times , Nature y Cell . La revista Science publicó un extenso artículo en 2023 explicando y reconociendo su contribución. Scopus recoge 41 publicaciones científicas, 5032 citas y un índice h de 28. Ha recibido diversos premios y ha sido incluida, junto con Habener, Drucker y Holst, en la lista TIME100 Health de las personas más influyentes en la sanidad en 2024 de la revista TIME . Svetlana Mojsov (Skopje, North Macedonia, 1947) studied Physical Chemistry in Belgrade and graduated from the American Rockefeller University, where she worked with Nobel Prize winner in Chemistry Robert Merrifield, specializing in peptide synthesis. She subsequently moved to Massachusetts General Hospital, where she identified the GLP-1 peptide, synthesized it and studied its function, in addition to developing antibodies against some of its sequences. She returned to Rockefeller University in the 1990s. Despite her role in the discovery and study of GLP-1, her name was not acknowledged until she initiated a lawsuit demanding that articles that appeared in T he New York Times , Nature and Cell be corrected. Science magazine published an extensive article in September 2023 explaining and acknowledging her contribution. According to Scopus, she has published 41 scientific papers, has been cited 5032 times and has an h -index of 28.
