ÁREA MUSICAL www.fpa.es Concerts in Covadonga and the Monastery of Las Pelayas In 2018, the Choir sang for the first time in its history at two emblematic sites, the Basilica of Santa María la Real in Covadonga and the Benedictine Monastery of San Pelayo, in Oviedo. The Choir joined in the celebrations of the centenaries of the Royal Site, giving a concert in which it was accompanied by the organist of the Basilica of Covadonga, Fernando Álvarez Menéndez, and cellist Pelayo Cuéllar Sarmiento. At Easter, the Choir gave a concert together with the Choir of the Benedictine Monastery of San Pelayo entitled “Creator Spiritus”, offering a programme that included Gregorian and religious polyphonic music from the 16th, 19th and 20th centuries. Music at Scorsese’s Factory The Foundation’s choirs took part in the musical programme at Scorsese’s Factory as part of Awards Week. The Foundation Choir gave a concert of religious music inspired by the film Silence , together with the Forma Antiqva ensemble. The Youth Choir participated in two concerts, together with the duo Elle Belga and the artistic collective FIUM, with musical works written exclusively for the occasion related to Martin Scorsese’s movies. Coros Choirs Conciertos en Covadonga y en el Monasterio de las Pelayas En 2018, el Coro cantó por primera vez en su historia en dos emplazamientos emblemáticos como son la basílica de Santa María la Real de Covadonga y el monasterio benedictino de San Pelayo, en Oviedo. El Coro se sumó a los actos de conmemoración de los centenarios del Real Sitio, con un concierto en el que estuvo acompañado por el organista de la Basílica de Covadonga, Fernando Álvarez Menéndez, y el violonchelista Pelayo Cuéllar Sarmiento. En Semana Santa, junto al Coro del Monasterio Benedictino de San Pelayo, el Coro ofreció el concierto “Creator Spiritus” con un programa de gregoriano y polifonía religiosa de los siglos xvi , xix y xx . Música en la Fábrica Scorsese Los Coros de la Fundación intervinieron en la programación musical de la Fábrica Scorsese, en el marco de la Semana de los Premios. El Coro ofreció un concierto de música sacra, junto al grupo Forma Antiqva, inspirado en el filme Silencio. El Joven Coro participó en dos conciertos, junto al Dúo Elle Belga y el colectivo artístico FIUM, con obras musicales escritas exclusivamente para la ocasión alusivas a la filmografía de Martin Scorsese.
