Princess of Asturias Award for Sports 2016

“I am very pleased and proud that awards of such international prestige have recognized my sporting career, but, above all, on account of the importance this recognition has for a sport, the triathlon, that does not enjoy massive media coverage.

This recognition satisfies me even more in view of the standing of all the finalists and of the many others who did not reach the final stage. For the merits they have achieved, any one of them deserved the award as much or more than I do.”
