Princess of Asturias Award for International Cooperation 2020

Statement by Seth Berkley, Chief Executive Officer of Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, following the conferral of the 2020 Princess of Asturias Award for International Cooperation

“Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, is truly honoured to receive this prestigious award, and recognition for its work in saving lives, reducing poverty and protecting the world against the threat of outbreaks of infectious disease, including pandemics. Spain has been a long-term and valued partner of the Alliance. It recently renewed its support for Gavi’s ongoing work to help immunise 300 million additional children over the next five years, saving up to 8 million lives, and to support its efforts to accelerate the development of COVID-19 vaccines and ensure they are available to all.”
