246 voces integran los tres coros de la Fundación
The Foundation’s three choirs comprise 246 voices
ACTIVIDADES DESTACADAS
Coros
El Coro de la Fundación, junto con la Orquesta
del Principado de Asturias y bajo la dirección
del maestro Howard Griffiths, interpretó para su
concierto Extraordinario de Semana Santa la
Misa
de la Coronación
de W.A. Mozart y las
Antífonas de la
Coronación
de G.H. Haendel, en el Teatro Jovellanos
de Gijón y en el Auditorio Príncipe Felipe de Oviedo.
En el mes de junio el Coro participó en un concierto
homenaje a D. Juan Luis Iglesias Prada en Tapia de
Casariego.
En diciembre, bajo el título “Europa Canta
la Navidad.
El Mesías
”, el Coro volvió a representar,
en la Catedral de Oviedo, esta obra emblemática
de Haendel junto con la Orquesta Sinfónica del
Principado y bajo la dirección del prestigioso
director español Juanjo Mena con gran éxito de
público.
El Joven Coro de la Fundación actuó en el
Concierto Participativo “Grandes Coros de Ópera”,
organizado por la Obra Social “la Caixa”, que reunió
a cinco agrupaciones corales de Oviedo y Gijón en
el Auditorio Príncipe Felipe de Oviedo. Esta es la
segunda ocasión en que el Joven Coro se suma
al proyecto de conciertos participativos, tras
interpretar en 2010 junto al Coro y al Coro Infantil,
el
Carmina Burana
de Carl Orff.

Choirs
For its Easter Concert Special, the Foundation Choir,
along with the Principality of Asturias Orchestra
and under the baton of Maestro Howard Griffiths,
performed the
Coronation Mass
by W.A. Mozart and
the
Antiphons of the Coronation
by G.H. Handel at the
Jovellanos Theatre in Gijón and the Prince Felipe
Auditorium in Oviedo.
In June, the Choir took part in a tribute concert
to Mr Juan Luis Iglesias Prada in Tapia de Casariego.
In Oviedo Cathedral in December, under the title
“Europe Hails Christmas:
The Messiah
”, the Choir
once again performed this iconic work by Handel
to major public acclaim alongside the Principality
of Asturias Symphony Orchestra under the baton of
renowned Spanish conductor Juanjo Mena.
The Foundation Youth Choir performed at the
“Great Opera Choruses” Participatory Concert
organised by the Obra Social ”la Caixa”, which
brought together five choirs from Oviedo and Gijón
in the Prince Felipe Auditorium in Oviedo. This is
the second time that the Foundation Youth Choir
has taken part in the participatory concerts project,
after performing Carl Orff’s
Carmina Burana
in 2010
alongside the Choir and Children’s Choir.
The Youth Choir and the Children’s Choir gave
a series of concerts throughout the year around

MUSIC DEPARTMENT
Desde su creación en 1983, el Área Musical de la
Fundación es responsable de la organización y
gestión de sus tres coros, de los conciertos celebrados
en torno a la entrega de los Premios Príncipe de
Asturias y de las diferentes actividades de la Escuela
Internacional de Música.
Since its creation in 1983, the Foundation’s Music
Department has been responsible for organising and
managing its three choirs, the Music School concerts
held around the Prince of Asturias Awards Ceremony
and the different activities of the International
Music School.
