Debates científicos
Avelino Corma, Mark E. Davis y Galen D. Stucky
participaron en una mesa redonda en la Facultad
de Químicas y mantuvieron un encuentro de
trabajo con profesores e investigadores en el Edificio
Histórico de la Universidad de Oviedo. Los tres
galardonados con el Premio Príncipe de Asturias
de Investigación Científica y Técnica asistieron a
la inauguración de la exposición “Imágenes con
química. La ciencia como catalizadora de progreso”,
en el Campo de San Francisco de Oviedo, realizada
por la Asociación de Diseñadores Gráficos de
Asturias.
“Frases en blanco y negro”
John Banville participó en una reunión, bajo el título
“Frases en Blanco y Negro”, con los miembros de 68
clubes de lectura de Asturias, Galicia y Cantabria, en
el Teatro Jovellanos de Gijón. El acto fue moderado
por el escritor argentino Rodrigo Fresán. Banville
intervino también en un encuentro con estudiantes
en el Campus de Humanidades de la Universidad de
Oviedo, bajo el epígrafe de “El extraño caso del Dr.
Banville y Mr. Black”.
Un puente entre sociedades y culturas
Los miembros de la Comisión Fulbright tomaron
parte en una mesa redonda bajo el epígrafe
“Fulbright: un puente entre sociedades y culturas
basado en las personas” en el Edificio Histórico
de la Universidad de Oviedo. El acto, moderado
por la directora de
El Huffington Post
, Montserrat
Domínguez, contó con la presencia del economista
Agustín Maravall y la pianista Sylvia Torán. Además,
representantes del Programa impartieron una sesión

D. Stucky participated in a roundtable at the Faculty
of Chemistry and in a meeting with lecturers
and researchers in the University of Oviedo Historic
Building. The three Prince of Asturias Laureates
for Technical and Scientific Research attended
the inauguration of the exhibition entitled
“Images that have chemistry. Science as a catalyst
for progress” in San Francisco Park in Oviedo,
created by the Asturian Association of Graphic
Designers.
“Sentences in Black and White”
John Banville took part in “Sentences in Black and
White”, a meeting with members of 68 book clubs
from Asturias, Galicia and Cantabria in
the Jovellanos Theatre in Gijón. The event
was chaired by Argentinian writer Rodrigo Fresán.
Banville also participated in a meeting with students
entitled “The Strange Case of Dr Banville and
Mr Black”, held on the Humanities Campus
of the University of Oviedo.
A bridge between societies and cultures
The members of the Fulbright Commission took part
in a roundtable entitled “Fulbright: a people-based
bridge between societies and cultures” held in the
University of Oviedo Historic Building. The event was
chaired by Montserrat Dominguez, editor-in-chief
of
The Huffington Post
, and included the participation
of economist Agustín Maravall and pianist Sylvia
Torán. In addition, representatives of the Fulbright
Program held a briefing session for students
at the Polytechnic School of Engineering in Gijón.
