Prince of Asturias Award for Communication and Humanities 1985

The members of the Jury for the 1985 Prince of Asturias Award for Communications and Humanities, Antonio Asensio, Guido Brunner, Jaime Campmany, Juan Luis Cebrián, Fernando G. Delgado, Domingo García Sabell, Guillermo Luca de Tena, Manuel Martín, Raúl Morodo, Pedro de Silva Cienfuegos-Jovellanos and Eugenio Trías, gathered in Oviedo on the 23rd and 24th of May, 1985, under the presidency of Justino de Azcárate and with Faustino González Alcalde acting as secretary, have decided by majority to grant this award to José Ferrater Mora, in recognition of his efforts to integrate the world of communications and humanities with that of the clarification and dissemination of philosophical ideas.

Likewise the Jury bore in mind his restless career, ever open and receptive to society´s problems in our times. The Jury would especially wish to emphasise his significance in America and his contribution to the understanding of audio-visual communications.
