The 2022 Princess of Asturias Laureates will begin to arrive in Asturias from
Sunday 23rd onwards. The Awards Ceremony will be held at the Campoamor
Theatre in Oviedo on Friday 28th October.
Juan Mayorga, Princess of Asturias Laureate for Literature, Carmen Linares and
María Pagés, joint Princess of Asturias Laureates for the Arts, Eduardo Matos
Moctezuma, Princess of Asturias Laureate for Social Sciences, and Adam
Michnik, Princess of Asturias Laureate for Communication and Humanities, will
be the first to travel to the Principality.
Yann LeCun and Demis Hassabis, joint Princess of Asturias Laureates for
Technical and Scientific Research along with Geoffrey Hinton and Yoshua Bengio,
will also be attending the ceremony, while the latter two will not be able to travel
to be present at the event due to medical recommendation.
The Princess of Asturias Award for Sports, conferred on the Olympic Refuge
Foundation and the Refugee Olympic Team, will be collected by IOC President
Thomas Bach, accompanied by two members of the Refugee Olympic Team,
Afghan cyclist Masomah Ali (living as a refugee in France) and Venezuelan
boxer Eldrid Sella (living as a refugee in Uruguay).
Besides featuring in different cultural events throughout the week, this year’s
Laureates will hold several meetings with the press, as detailed below.

- Juan Mayorga, Princess of Asturias Laureate for Literature, will arrive in Oviedo will arrive around 8:20pm.
MONDAY 24th OCTOBER
- María Pagés, joint Princess of Asturias Laureate for the
Arts, will arrive at the Reconquista Hotel about 2:30pm.
- Carmen Linares joint Princess of Asturias Laureate for
the Arts, will be officially received around 3:00pm.
- Eduardo Matos Moctezuma, Princess of Asturias
Laureate for Social Sciences, will arrive at around
5:35pm.
- Adam Michnik, Princess of Asturias Laureate for
Communication and Humanities, will arrive at the
Reconquista Hotel during the evening.
TUESDAY 25th OCTOBER
- Demis Hassabis, joint Princess of Asturias Laureate for
Technical and Scientific Research, will arrive around
5:00pm.

- Ellen MacArthur, Princess of Asturias Laureate for
International Cooperation, is scheduled to arrive at
3:40pm.
THURSDAY 27th OCTOBER
- Shigeru Ban, Princess of Asturias Laureate for Concord,
will arrive at the Reconquista Hotel during the afternoon.
- Thomas Bach, President of the International Olympic
Committee, representing the Olympic Refuge
Foundation and the Refugee Olympic Team, Princess
of Asturias Award for Sports, will arrive at the
Reconquista Hotel at 5:35pm.
