Princess of Asturias Awards 10/21/2013

RTVE is to provide the host broadcasting services for the 2013 Prince of Asturias Awards Ceremony

The television signal at several Awards Week events will be made available to interested media.

The press conferences given by the Laureates will be broadcast over the Internet.

As on previous occasions, the Spanish public service television and radio companies Televisión Española (TVE) and Radio Nacional de España (RNE) will be responsible for providing the official host signals for the Prince of Asturias Awards Ceremony, which is to be held next Friday, 25th October, starting at 6:30pm, at the Campoamor Theatre in Oviedo. TVE will also be providing the television signal for the audience granted by TRH The Prince and Princess of Asturias to the Laureates this coming Friday at 12:30pm at the Reconquista Hotel's "Salón Covadonga".

RNE will provide the audio signal from the dressing rooms in the Campoamor Theatre to all the radio networks, while TVE will distribute the television signal. Media interested in using the official signal should get in touch beforehand with:

The areas specially designated for news editors at the Campoamor Theatre will be Main Boxes 11 and 13 in the Dress Circle. Due to the limited space available, you are advised to follow the ceremony from the screens situated at the press office.



AWARDS WEEK EVENTS:

Signal:

The signal will be made available to all those media interested in covering the following events:

•- "People who Write, People who Meet", a meeting between Antonio Muñoz Molina, Prince of Asturias Award for Literature, and members of reading clubs from Asturias and Cantabria at the "City of Oviedo" Exhibition and Congress Centre in Oviedo at 7:30pm on Wednesday, 23rd October.

•- Meeting entitled "Opportunities at the Max Planck Society for Spanish Researchers" featuring Juan Ignacio Cirac, 2006 Prince of Asturias Award for Technical and Scientific Research and director of the Max Planck Institute for Quantum Optics in Garching; Soojin Ryu, research team leader at the Max Planck Institute for Medical Research in Heidelberg; Matthias Weiβenbacher, PhD student at the Max Planck Institute for Physics in Munich; and Ali Shahmoradi, PhD student at the Max Planck Institute for Experimental Medicine in Göttingen. The event will be held in the "Paraninfo" Hall, University of Oviedo Historic Building (San Francisco, 1. Oviedo) at 7:30pm on Wednesday, 23rd October.

•- Tribute to Michael Haneke, Prince of Asturias Award for the Arts, who will meet with the public and those attending the film forum at the Jovellanos Theatre in Gijón at 7:30pm on Wednesday, 23rd October. Television cameras will not be allowed in the theatre. A signal will be made available to the media.

•- Meeting with Peter Higgs, François Englert and Sergio Bertolucci, Director for Research at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN), Prince of Asturias Award for Technical and Scientific Research, at the Faculty of Sciences, University of Oviedo at 12 noon on Thursday, 24th October.

•- Panel discussion entitled "Innovation as an engine of progress: economic and scientific aspects" featuring Peter Gruss, President of the Max Planck Society for the Advancement of Science, and Ramón Sotomayor, President of ThyssenKrupp for Southern Europe, Africa and the Middle East. The event will be held in the Hall of Paintings at the Laboral, City of Culture in Gijón at 6:30pm on Thursday, 24th October.

•- Talk by Annie Leibovitz, Prince of Asturias Award for Communication and Humanities, at the Niemeyer Centre in Avilés at 7:00pm on Thursday, 24th October.

An image (video BNC outputs) and audio (Canon-XLR and Mini-jack outputs) distributor will be made available to the media.

Special coverage:

•- The breakfast meeting with Saskia Sassen, to be held at 9:00am on Friday, 25th October in the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Oviedo, will only feature graphic coverage.

The media will have free access to all Awards Week activities, except for the Tribute to Michael Haneke. They will have audio outputs (Canon-XLR and mini-jack) at their disposal, as well as a specially designated area for photographers and TV cameras.

XXII Prince of Asturias Awards Concert

Media interested in obtaining images of the XXII Prince of Asturias Awards Concert, to be held at the Prince Felipe Auditorium in Oviedo at 8:00pm on Thursday, 24th October, will have a video and audio distributor (PAL SD, Canon-XLR and mini-jack outputs) at their disposal at the office located in the Hotel Barceló Oviedo Cervantes (Cervantes, 13. Oviedo).

The media will have free access to the remainder of the Awards Week activities that are to take place in Oviedo, Gijón, Avilés and Mieres. They will have audio outputs (Canon-XLR and Mini-jack) at their disposal, as well as a specially designated area for TV cameras.

All the press conferences given by the Laureates will be broadcast over the Foundation's website.
