Prior to the events of Awards Week, the Prince of Asturias Foundation is to schedule the screening of a cycle of films, in collaboration with the University of Oviedo, featuring the complete filmography of Michael Haneke, 2013 Prince of Asturias Award for the Arts.

The screenings, which will take place in Oviedo, Gijón and Avilés between 14th and 22nd October, will be completed with three film forum sessions with the participation of experts and two musical performances before the films during which the works of Schubert and J.S. Bach, which figure in their soundtracks, will be played live (see attached schedule).

The reflections arising from the film forum sessions as well as the musical compositions will prepare the ground for a meeting between filmmaker Michael Haneke and the public to be held in Gijón during Awards Week that is to round off this cycle.

The programme, which has the support of the EDP Foundation, will be screened at the following venues: in Oviedo, the Teatro Filarmónica and the tiered Severo Ochoa Lecture Hall in the University of Oviedo’s Historical Building; in Gijón, the “Gijón Sur” Multipurpose Municipal Centre, Pumarín; and in Avilés, the Niemeyer Centre Auditorium.

Admission will be free until all seats are taken.
