Speech by HRH The Prince of Asturias at the 1982 Prince of Asturias Awards Ceremony

Allow me to state that culture and education are precisely where the secret lies that will guide the relationships among the Spanish people toward progress and peace, which is my heartfelt wish for Asturias and for Spain.

I once more have the satisfaction of congratulating those who have received the awards that bear my name and which are conceded by the Prince of Asturias Foundation.

The personality of those who have been distinguished in the distinct activities, whether artistic or scientific, that come under the scope of the Awards constitutes the finest demonstration of the accuracy that has marked the decision of the corresponding juries, to whose members I also express my congratulations.

And lastly, I likewise congratulate the Foundation, whose activities do honour to this beloved region and exalt the values of education and culture.

Allow me to state that culture and education are precisely where the secret lies that will guide the relationships among the Spanish people toward progress and peace, which is my heartfelt wish for Asturias and for Spain.
