“Panel Discussion on Female Genital Mutilation”.
Date and time: Thursday, 18 October 2018. 06:30PM h.
Place: “Paraninfo” Hall, University of Oviedo Historic Building (Calle San Francisco, 1, Oviedo).
Free admission until all seats are taken. Once all seats in the Paraninfo hall are taken, the public can follow the event via screens from the main lecture hall (Aula Magna) and the Severo Ochoa lecture hall. Simultaneous translation will be available at the event.
Nice Nailantei Leng’ete, ambassador against genital mutilation in Amref Health Africa (Global) and head of the NGO’s “Alternative Rites of Passage” programme in Kenya, and Githinji Gitahi, CEO of Amref Health Africa (Global), will take part in a panel discussion, along with representatives of other organizations involved in the eradication of female genital mutilation, that will be moderated by journalist Patricia Simón and lecturer in Constitutional Law at the University of Oviedo María Valvidares.
