Statement by Alma Guillermoprieto on being granted the 2018 Princess of Asturias Award for Communication and Humanities

“This award fills me with amazement, joy –and fright– in view of its significance and history. The Princess of Asturias Award is the institution through which Spain links up with the world and the world with Spain. It is an immense honour to be one more link in this tale and fortunately I do not bear the burden of the award alone, as I know it constitutes the recognition of my entire profession, journalism, which has been and still is the most exciting way to experience the world.”
