"The origin of the cinematograph"

Date and time: Wednesday, 17 October 2018. 10:00PM h.

Place: Arts and Crafts - La Vega Arms Factory, in Oviedo. SOLD OUT.

Musical screening. Admission to the events will be free of charge but requires prior registration via the Foundation website from 8th October.

Asturian pianist Jacobo de Miguel, accompanied by Fernando Arias (percussion) and Gabriel Ureña (violoncello), will provide the soundtrack for several pieces of silent films restored with the support of The Film Foundation. These will be Les Fromages Automobiles (1907) by G. Méliès, Tramp Strategy (1911) by Alice Guy Blaché and The Cure (1917) by Charles Chaplin. Les Fromages Automobiles (1907) by G. Méliès is a collection from the George Eastman Museum, whose conservation efforts have been funded by The Film Foundation. Tramp Strategy (1911) by Alice Guy Blaché was recovered by the UCLA Film & Television Archive and Technicolor, in cooperation with EYE Film Institute Netherlands and Be Natural Productions. The restoration work was funded by New York Women in Film & Television, the Women’s Film Preservation Fund and The Film Foundation. The Cure. (1917) by Charles Chaplin was restored by the Cineteca di Bologna at the L’Immagine Ritrovata laboratory, in collaboration with Lobster Films and Film Preservation Associates. Funding for the restoration was provided by The Film Foundation, the George Lucas Family Foundation and the Material World Charitable Foundation.
