Ordinary meeting of the Princess of Asturias Foundation Board of Trustees
Held today at the Reconquista Hotel in Oviedo, chaired by Ana I. Fernández
The Princess of Asturias Foundation Board of Trustees held its ordinary meeting corresponding to the second half of the year at the Reconquista Hotel in Oviedo today, where it approved the budget and action plan for 2026 and was informed of the activities undertaken this past year and of the institution’s financial situation and assets.
President of the Foundation Ana I. Fernández and director Teresa Sanjurjo presented a report detailing the activity carried out by the institution throughout the year, with special attention to the Princess of Asturias Awards Ceremony and the cultural events leading up to it, as well as the impact that all this had in the media.
The report includes information on participation at the 80 cultural events organized to mark last October’s Awards Ceremony, which were attended by more than 40 455 people, in addition to the 9213 participations by students from the 159 schools in the Principality of Asturias that participated in the “Taking the Floor” cultural programme.
The economic evaluation of the news generated by the Foundation during October in Spain’s traditional media –not including digital media– amounted to nearly twenty-five million euros (€24 806 629 euros), according to data provided by media monitoring consultants Onclusive.
Budget 2026
Following the presentation of the figures corresponding to the 2025 edition of the Awards, the Board of Trustees unanimously approved the action plan and budget for 2026, amounting to 7.7 million euros, a figure that once again reflects the institution’s budgetary independence, with 89% of its income coming from the private sector and 11% from the public sector.
The Board also approved the appointment of Martín González del Valle Chávarri, Baron of Grado, as a Patron of the institution, as well as the incorporation of the Prisa Group, represented by vice-president Pilar Gil Miguel, into the Princess of Asturias Board of Trustees, an honorary body.
