Princess of Asturias Awards

RTVE is to provide the official host signal for the solemn Princess of Asturias Awards ceremony 2025

The presence of visual media will be restricted at the meetings featuring Laureates Byung-Chul Han and Mario Draghi.

RTVE is to provide the official host signal for the solemn Princess of Asturias Awards ceremony 2025

As on previous occasions, the Spanish public service television and radio companies Televisión Española (TVE) and Radio Nacional de España (RNE) will be responsible for providing the official host signals for the solemn Princess of Asturias Awards Ceremony, to be held at the Campoamor Theatre in Oviedo this coming Friday 24th October, commencing at 6:30pm. TVE will also be providing the television signal for the audience of the Laureates with TM The King and Queen and Their Royal Highnesses The Princess of Asturias and Infanta Sofía, which will commence at 12:30pm on Friday 24th October in the “Salón Covadonga” reception room at the Reconquista Hotel.

RNE will provide the audio signal from the dressing rooms in the Campoamor Theatre to all the radio networks, while TVE will distribute the television signal. Media interested in using the official signal should get in touch beforehand with:
 

The areas specially designated for news writers at the Campoamor Theatre will be Main Boxes 5, 7, 9 and 11 in the Dress Circle (“Principal”). Maximum one news writer per media until there is no more room available. The doors to the Jovellanos Theatre will close at 6:00pm. Due to the limited space available, news writers are advised to follow the ceremony from the screens situated in the Foundation press room at the Hotel Barceló Oviedo Cervantes (Calle Cervantes, 13, Oviedo).

VISUAL MEDIA COVERAGE

MONDAY  20th OCTOBER

  • Between Nonchalance and Knowledge. Eduardo Mendoza meets with book clubs. 

City of Oviedo Exhibition and Conference Centre, at 7:00pm.
Television cameras will not be allowed entry to the event. The host signal will be made available.

 

TUESDAY 21st OCTOBER

  • Visit to the Principality of Asturias Regional Parliament by Douglas Massey, 2025 Princess of Asturias Laureate for Social Sciences. 

Principality of Asturias Regional Parliament (Chamber), at 1:00pm.
Television cameras will not be allowed entry to the event. The Parliament will provide the broadcast signal and an audio connection will be made available to the media.

 

  • Meeting with the public. Talk by Byung-Chul Han, 2025 Princess of Asturias Laureate for Communication and Humanities

Jovellanos Theatre in Gijón, at 7:30pm.
Television cameras will not be allowed entry to the event. A broadcast signal (HD-SDI connection with embedded audio) will be provided during the first 10 minutes of the event. An XLR connection for audio will be made available to the media. 

Photographs will only be allowed during the first 5 minutes. 

 

WEDNESDAY 22nd OCTOBER

  • Long Live Philosophy. Closing event of the “Taking the Floor” programme featuring Byung-Chul Han, 2025 Princess of Asturias Laureate for Communication and Humanities.

Universidad Laboral state secondary school (Assembly Hall), at 12 noon.
Video recordings and photographs will only be allowed during the first 5 minutes. 

 

  • Iturbide-Iñárritu: A Camera to Understand Life. A talk between filmmaker Alejandro González Iñárritu, writer Jorge Volpi and photographer Graciela Iturbide, 2025 Princess of Asturias Laureate for the Arts.

Jovellanos Theatre in Gijón, at 7:30pm.
Television cameras will not be allowed entry to the event. A broadcast signal (HD-SDI connection with embedded audio) will be provided during the first 10 minutes of the event. An XLR connection for audio will be made available to the media. 
 

  • Whatever It Takes. Mario Draghi, 2025 Princess of Asturias Award Laureate for International Cooperation, meets with students and lecturers.

Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Oviedo (“Aula Magna” main lecture hall), at 7:00pm.
This event will only have photo/video coverage during the first 5 minutes. The presence of news writers during the event is pending confirmation]. Journalists are not allowed inside.

 

THURSDAY 23rd OCTOBER

  • Innovation breakfast. Researcher Hugh Herr, 2016 Princess of Asturias Laureate for Technical and Scientific Research, visits the University of Oviedo MediaLab. 

Gijón Polytechnic School of Engineering (MediaLab), at 11:00am.

This event will NOT have coverage. 
The Foundation will provide the media with phographic footage of the event.

 

  • Hugh Herr meets with university students.  

Gijón Polytechnic School of Engineering (auditorium), at 12 noon.

No restrictions on coverage.
Translation will not be provided at this event.

 

33rd PRINCESS OF ASTURIAS AWARDS CONCERT

VISUAL MEDIA

Recordings inside the auditorium may only be made before the concert starts. Video footage will be made available through the Princess of Asturias Foundation’s Online Press Room (http://www.fpa.es/en) to those media interested in obtaining images of the performance, which will take place at the Prince Felipe Auditorium in Oviedo on Thursday 23rd October, starting at 7:00pm.

PRESS CONFERENCES

All the press conferences given by the Laureates will be broadcast over the Foundation’s website. (http://www.fpa.es/en).

Photos/video footage on the events featuring the Laureates will be available in the Online Press Room (OPR) on the Foundation’s website: http://www.fpa.es/en.
