Their Majesties The King and Queen meet with the members of the Princess Asturias Foundation's Boards of Trustees

Their Majesties The King and Queen are to meet with the members of the Princess of Asturias Foundation’s Boards of Trustees at 5:30pm today, Tuesday 23rd June, at the Royal Palace of El Pardo in Madrid.

A detailed report on the work carried out in 2025 will be presented during the meeting, as well as a report on the financial situation and assets of the Foundation, which ended the year with positive net income and a level of expenditure of 7.8 million euros. 
The institution’s Annual Report will be presented to the Trustees during the meeting. Among the details and information related to the activities undertaken throughout 2025, the most significant correspond to the granting and presentation of the Princess of Asturias Awards and the week of cultural events surrounding the Awards Ceremony known as “Awards Week”. Last year’s Awards Week comprised 80 events –all open to the public and free of charge– which were attended by more than 40 000 people. Furthermore, the “Taking the Floor” cultural programme for schools in the Principality of Asturias received 9213 participations by pupils from 159 schools.

The meeting will be attended for the first time by Cristina Alvarez Guil, Chairwoman of El Corte Inglés; José Luis García Suárez, representing the Caja de Ahorros de Asturias Banking Foundation; José Antonio Jainaga Gómez, President of Patentes Talgo; Marcelo Maestre León, Vice-President of Seville’s Real Maestranza de Caballería; Luis Pérez de Ayala Becerril, Chairman of Cuatrecasas; Antonio Rodriguez Merelles, Managing Director of A-Ware Asturias; Salvador Sánchez-Terán, Senior Partner at Uria Menéndez; José Ignacio Sanz Saiz, CEO of TotalEnergies Electricity and Gas Spain, and Ana Torrens, President of Deloitte España.
