Their Majesties The King and Queen met with the members of the Princess of Asturias Foundation’s Boards of Trustees at 10:30am today, Thursday 13th June, at the Royal Palace of El Pardo, Madrid.
A detailed report on the work carried out in 2024 was presented at the meeting, as well as a report on the financial situation and assets of the Foundation, which ended the year with positive net income and a level of expenditure (7.1 million euros) slightly higher than that of the previous year.
The institution’s Annual Report was likewise presented to the Trustees during the meeting. Among the details and information related to the activities undertaken throughout 2024, the most significant correspond to the granting and presentation of the Princess of Asturias Awards and the arrangements for the cultural week surrounding the latter event. Furthermore, the cultural programme for schools in the Principality of Asturias received 12 766 participations by pupils from 159 schools.
The meeting was attended for the first time by Ignacio de la Colina Menéndez, President of JP Morgan for Spain and Portugal; José Luis Escrivá Belmonte, Governor of the Bank of Spain; Santiago de León y Domecq, Vice-President of Seville’s Real Maestranza de Caballería; Pablo Martín Rodríguez, President of Izertis; Ana María Pastor, President of the A.M.A. mutual insurance group; José Luis Rodrigo Escrig, Director-General of the Ibercaja Foundation; and Nieves Roqueñí Gutiérrez, President of the Port Authority of Gijón.
