Statement by Demis Hassabis, following the conferral of the 2022 Princess of Asturias Award for Technical and Scientific Research.

"I am greatly honored to be awarded the prestigious Princess of Asturias Award alongside some of my brilliant colleagues and scientists, and on behalf of my amazing team, who have helped to improve people’s lives and better our understanding of the world through the invention of these new breakthrough technologies."

Demis Hassabis

Statement by Geoffrey Hinton, following the conferral of the 2022 Princess of Asturias Award for Technical and Scientific Research.

“It is a great honour to receive the Award and I am very happy that it is shared with my colleagues and friends. This recognition of the success of artificial neural networks is especially pleasing because of the long history of this approach being dismissed by the mainstream Artificial Intelligence community.”

Statement by Yoshua Bengio, following the conferral of the 2022 Princess of Asturias Award for Technical and Scientific Research.

“I am truly honoured to receive the 2022 Princess of Asturias Award for Technical and Scientific Research along with my esteemed colleagues Geoff Hinton, Yann LeCun and Demis Hassabis. The scientific and technical advances in artificial intelligence that are also being recognized with this award are the result of a collective effort, not just ours, including that of our students, our collaborators and in fact a whole community, along with those who believed in the transformative potential of deep learning and invested in its development and deployment.”
