T.R.H. the Prince and Princess of Asturias presided over the closing concert of the XIX Music Week, which the Prince of Asturias Foundation organizes together with Cajastur and which took place on  21st October, at 8,00 p.m. at the Prince Felipe Auditorium in Oviedo. Maestro Maximiliano Valdés conducted this concert.

The Principality of Asturias Symphony Orchestra, together with the Prince of Asturias Foundation's Choir and the solo vocalists Elena de la Merced (soprano), Elisabeth von Magnus (mezzo), Gustavo Peña (tenor) and Marco Vinco (bass) performed the overture of The Mastersingers of Nuremberg by Richard Wagner and Joseph Haydn’s Nelson Mass.

The concert closed the XIX Music Week, which the Prince of Asturias Foundation organizes together with Cajastur. Since 15th October, 17 concerts were held in eight different regions of Asturias: Oviedo, Gijón, Avilés, Grado, Langreo, Llanes, Luarca and Mieres.

Ensembles of different styles have participated in the cycle, such as the vocal Sixtet Queen’s Six, the Brass Octet -who also perform the music during the Prince of Asturias Award presentation ceremony- or the Guitar Quartet Entrequatre.
