Princess of Asturias Awards 05/07/2011

Severiano Ballesteros, 1989 Prince of Asturias Award for Sports, has died

The Jury that conferred the award on him was chaired by Juan Antonio Samaranch and was made up of Marta Cantón, Carlos Ferrer Salat, Javier Gómez Navarro, Herminio Menéndez, H.R.H. Albert of Monaco, Matías Prats Cañete, Marian Renke, Alfonso Rodríguez Allen, José Luis Vilaseca and Antonio Masip

The Award Ceremony, which took place on 21st October, was presided over by H.R.H. the Prince of Asturias. The speeches at the ceremony were given by the scientist Stephen Hawking, Jacques Delors and Mijail Gorvachov, the president of the Foundation and H.R.H. Felipe de Borbón.
