At this event, 2025 Princess of Asturias Award Laureate for Technical and Scientific Research Mary-Claire King will discuss her ground-breaking studies in forensic genetics and her work with the Grandmothers of the Plaza de Mayo in Argentina via the creation of the “grandparentage index”: a pioneering method that uses mitochondrial DNA to identify children kidnapped and wrongly given away during the South American country’s dictatorship, which has reunited many families that have been separated.
