Statement by Studio Ghibli on being granted the 2026 Princess of Asturias Award for Communication and Humanities 

“All of us at Studio Ghibli are deeply honored to receive this prestigious award.

Throughout the years of filmmaking, we have always reflected on what people see and feel in their daily lives. From the small joys and sorrows to the scent of wind and play of light, these are the everyday moments we want to capture in our work. We are deeply moved by this recognition of our ongoing efforts.

Receiving this prestigious award bearing the name of Her Royal Highness the Princess of Asturias is an unforgettable privilege.

We look forward to meeting His Majesty the King, Her Majesty the Queen, Her Royal Highness the Princess of Asturias, and the rest of the Royal Family in Oviedo this October.

We want to take this opportunity to express our deepest gratitude to the people of Spain for their enduring love and support of Studio Ghibli’s films.”
