Serrat is one of the leading figures of modern song. His songs form part of the emotional memory of several generations in Spain and Ibero-America, both in Catalan and Spanish, two languages that he has fostered and helped to advance from a natural balance as vehicles of harmony and understanding, far from any confrontation.

50 nominations encompassing 21 different nationalities are in the running for this Award, the first of eight international awards that are bestowed each year by the Princess of Asturias Foundation, now in their 44th year.

321 nominations had been submitted as of 7th March.

He was conferred the Award in 2010 for “his audacity in structuring –from his minimalist perspective– the most significant spaces at an international scale through works of great visual power that are an invitation to reflection and wonder”.

Held today in Oviedo.

The deadline for submitting nominations closed yesterday, Thursday, 7th March.

An audiovisual piece on artistic creation, inspired by Carmen Linares and María Pagés, joint Princess of Asturias Laureates for the Arts in 2022.

The screening, which will take place on 8th March at the Teatro Echegaray, will be attended by both artists.

Held today at the Reconquista Hotel in Oviedo, chaired by Ana I. Fernández.
